i just recently converted my eb to a manual and it has been leaving drips of gearbox oil all over my driveway....i got home today only to find a PUDDLE from LAST NIGHT, not just drips a fair puddle and yes i drove it a bit today......i jacked it up and the oil seems to be coming from the yoke, where the tailshaft goes in. main question is how tough are the manuals with low fluid? and is it as simple as that seal and possibly bush needing replacing or is there something on top of that area that can leak and is rooted? expensive dramas or after a simple fix can i just be happy? lol

gears should be orite with lowish fluid, bearings..... need oil as theres nothing conected to 'splash them'.

rear seal is $4 from east coast.

oil can leak from the speedo sender, bit mot a puddle.

are you sure its the rear seal? do you park upwards? cos its more likely to create a puddle from leaking where the extension housing mates the box.

and about 30mins to change!.

Adding to what Andrew has already said - do not drive it around any more than you absolutely need to - not only are the gears and bearings not getting proper lubing, also the oil acts as a heat exchanger with the gearbox casing, so low oil means heat is not being disappated properly.

Before you put a 2nd hand box in, you should change the front and rear seals as a matter of course.
