found a BA 5 speed manual transmision for sale for a good price, suposed to have done 40,000ks. question is will the BA T5 go into an AU? will it fit in the tunnel? no worries if i need a new bellhousing can get one of those, just wanna know if Im wasting my money buying it and if its any different from the e-au series T5s.

fast and knowledgeabl response vastly apreciated. you may even get your name as my first childs middle name (not a garauntee.)

i think the T5s are all the same. IIRC the only difference in BA's is the box is called T5-Z, and is built stronger...

so therefore the tunnels should be the same? were there any issues with the clutch cable setup? I know of an au bellhousing for sale if the BA one wont fit the AU.

its not for sale for much longer, so any furhter info between BA t5's and e-au T5's needed.

i *think* the BA's have a hydraulic clutch, not sure though, ive never actually seen one in the metal.

but the boxes are pretty much the same.

i know the t56 is hydraulic, im not sure bout the t5... theoretically if it were, is there much issue installing the hydraulic system off a BA? how much extra $$ would this add to the excercise?

I was hoping BA t5's were still cable operated... would make the descision much easier.

thanks for posting alfy :D

So the AU bellhousings bolt up to BA engines, and so BA bellhousings bolt up to AU engines - we are talking I6 here correct? Therefore a T56 from a BA would bolt up to an AU. All that would be required then would be a hydraulic clutch conversion, possible modifications to tailshaft and rear gearbox mount.

90% sure e-series bell housing bolts up to a BA motor but only the top 4 bolts.
And the hydraulic setup on dan's red EA was a custom setup.

when i get around to pulling this BA motor out that i have i will have a look to confirm.

Will the stock BA T56 clutch bolt to the AU flywheel do you think?
