Do you mean a 'short shifter' for a Manual box, or a 'shift kit' for an Auto?
I've heard nothing but good things about the B&M Rip shifter for manuals (exxy but), and a shiftkit for an auto can either be bought pretty cheaply, or there's a big thread on making one yourself on here. Do a search.

Sorry should have given more info. Short shifter for a manual box. I might be the only one but i find the stock shifter a bit awkward. was after info on a quicker option.

Try Mal Wood automotive in QLD. They are the tremec distributors for Aust, and I got my short throw shifter from them. They even made me a shortened gear stick.
I know they have some new ones being released, so you might pick up a good deal on some of the older stock.

2 words.... hack... saw... take off the shifter boot, wrap an old tshirt around the shifter to cover the console so you dont get metal shavings everywhere. Put it into reverse (this makes it easier the get the saw in there). Then just cut the shifter off at the bottom of the threaded section and put an aftermarket gearknob on it. Also try an get a fair short gearknob that will sit down low on the shifter. Or you can just unbolt the shifter from the car and put it into a vice.
Actually, hacksaw is one word... |

thats not a short shifter... thats a short shift LEVER. A short shifter has a different distance on the inside of the box, so as to reduce the distance between shifts (And also firms up the shift action in most cases for a better shift feel, less missing of 3rd etc) even with the factory lever... if you then shorten the lever... well...

The T5 isn't the strongest gearbox is it... won't a short shifter risk damaging the synchros and such?

Cutting down the shift lever should be done before fitting a short shift, proved that the shifter bushes are in good nick. By shortening the shift 'lever' (and thats all the shifting mechanism is, levers) it will increase shift speed. Unless your into some form of competition, the $300+ for a short shift is a waist of money. |

im dragging this 1 back up, If u plan on getting a short shift then i would strongly advise not cutting your stick down before getting it in. Also i believe 300 for a short shift kit is well worth the money. Have u got 1 falcon_hell??? or even drivin a 5spd with 1?

i havent driven a falcon with one, but ive driven a commie with one and i did notice it had a nice shift feel, but as far as shift speed was concerned, it wasnt worth the $320 he paid for it.
