Since I've lowered my car, my rear shocks have been making a rattling noise.

I have narrowed down the noise to being the little rubber that goes ontop of the shocker, and is ment to slide up and down with the shocker. What happens when it starts rattling (really more of a knocking noise) is the rubber gets stuck at the top of the shock rod, and causes all susspension noise to echo through the protective cover.

At first this was because the rubber was put in upside down, allowing it to get caught on the lil nobby bit at the top.
But even now I have turned it over to the right way, and that lasted for all of about 4 days, before the rattle is back.


Any ideas?

It'll be your lower shock bolts causing the rattle. They need to be bloody tight other wise the shock can move sideways the tiniest bit and there is your knock.

Aha! So that's what that bloody noise is!
Time to tighten that up methinks!

It is amazing how many times you hear of peoples rear shocks knocking; my current ones are also; i tightened them n they were fine; altho the other day i think i heard them again over a speedhump - i think it can wait till they are put aside for some lowered jobbies but.

Daniel, I agree about how often you hear knocking shocks, I can't believe it was so simple to fix! I think the knock in the shock is what attracted the cops attention when he TRIED to defect me for being too low. I was 2mm above the limit!
