Hi there folks. I have recently (literally) inherited an ED sedan. My question is: did they come with a rear sway bar as standard?
The reason being that the ride seems to be very "choppy". It's not the shocks as I have replaced them out of necessity, and replaced the rear springs with standard ones. It did have Pedders "Heavy duty" ones in before. I once had a ZK Fairlane, which, IIRC, had the Watts linkage rear end, but I don't seem to remember it having a rear sway bar. I look at other EA/D's on the road, and they seem to ride a lot better than the one I've got Cheers |

Shox are new, and I checked the bushes when I was underneath with the shox, and there didn't seem to be any unusual movement.
I have an EL wagin that is lowered (not a lot) with stiffer rear leaf (whiteline) etc., and that rides a lot better than the ED. If the bushes were stuffed, I reckon the ride would be "sloppy" rather than "choppy" Even my 80 year old mum reckons the ED has square wheels!! |

Could be upper or lower control arm bushes, Sway bar bushes, or Watts link bushes. Have you checked that it has the sway bar fitted, could be sway bar bushes.

Hi,
from what we are aware the ED do not come from factory with a sway bar and why our kit has all mounting points and links and brackets etc. They are leaf sprung on the wagon and there is no watt link or rods. |

I was working on an AU series 1 Fairlane Ghia and noticed it didn't have a rear sway bar......it had a VCT engine, and a single legger diff too.....it is all original, untouched.
