I've got all the non-ABS lines if you want.

Trade for the ABS computer. Mine got a little wet, courtesy of the NSWFB :)

Also note that on ABS setup, there are only 2 lines coming from the master cylinder to the ABS pump. On non-ABS there are 3 lines coming out. 1 each to the front, and 1 to the rear.

I guess if there was a non-ABS variant of the same model, it would be.

Theres no where on the car that it states that it was originally equipped with ABS or not, unlike engine/trans/body type.

Removing originally installed ABS and substituting non ABS parts IS illegal and also very stupid unless you are using the car for RACE TRACK only. :P

Yeah but how legal is that turbo setup!

Probabily is illegal to remove your ABS but the car was also sold without ABS so if you convert it back to that I don't think it will be dangerous.

Personally I would try and keep it.

I have no idea if it is illegal to remove ABS from an abs equiped car.
It's also not a case of being dangerouse or not.
It may just be a legality and could void your insurance,
- expensive if you crash into a porche :)
Check with the your rego authority and be safe and sure.

What i find odd is that every car at my local wrecking yard has the brake lines to the ABS module cut.
This is obviously done by insurance companies for some legal reason, otherwise they wouldn't do it.

It also makes it unnerving, atleast for me, to buy an ABS module from the wreckers.
Dirt could have entered and i have no ideal how difficult it would be to flush.

Cheers.

Within the first 2 years of getting my ED the ABS saved me from crashing twice!! Haven't had to use it in anger in 8 years since - but on those two occasions I was mighty greatful for it.

Both were I guess driver error - first time I was in back blocks the night after I'd had an XR6 cam and FuelTronics module fitted - the engine was "sneezing" on sudden acceleration so I was slowing and then flooring the pedal to try and work our what was happening - suddenly I realised I was entering a quite sharp bend waaay to fast - about an 8 foot drop down into cane paddock if I went over the edge (rollover would have been certain) - so I went for the brake and with the outside wheels on the dirt the ABS cut in so I just kept the pedal down and was able to hold it from going any wider - ie. over the edge - until it was controllable again.

Second time I was in a long turning lane (LH turn) and suddenly inexplicably realised I was waaaay too fast for the actual turn (simply forgot to brake I guess) so on the brakes and "chirp", "chirp", "chirp" and I made the turn ok. Would have piled into the poles and things at the island or done a sideways lockup or something similar without the ABS I reckon.

As I say tho - haven't had to trip it in 8 years since.
