Having some trouble removing discs on the rear of a EL (98 model) wagon. These have the handbrake drums inside the disc. I'm guessing I need to backoff the pressure on the handbrake shoes inside the disk but can't work out how to do it
 I've removed the little rubber cover on the hole which I presume gives me access to do but can't see or feel where it is.
Kinda hard to explain (and maybe hard to understand too  ) but I'm sure anyone who has done this before will understand and be able to give me some pointers

Did you remove the retaining screw??
The handbrake should just need releasing from inside. The disc should come off as long as you keep it straight.

yeh i've never struck any probs with rear disk removal.
I'd quickly apply and dislodge the hand brake if it is tight to try loosen it up, if that fails.... undo the cable. after this... force, then refitting the shoe.

I had no trouble with mine. Take a rubber mallet to it.

retaining screw is removed, cable is disconnected too...
I'm pretty sure the drum is worn out enough to have created a lip on the edge of it to stop it sliding out easily. The shoes will be getting caught up on this lip. The disc is only moving roughly 10mm at the moment. Might go and try some force on it

You'll most likely take the handbrake shoe off with the disc. I hope you are putting on new discs. If not, have fun getting the thing back on, and still have a working handbrake.
