Will an AU or BA 6spd fit into an EBII?

If it makes a difference I have a T5 already fitted!

The reason I ask is coz Im gettin a crunch when I shift to 4th!

And looking at a possibly expensive rebuild!

mal wood does 6 speed conversions that cost in excess of 7500 so yeah sorry but it would be more expensive to go down this path rather than spending 1000 bucks on a rebuild.

sorry mate

If its grding going into fourth, its probably just the synchros. Bit of a job to replace them, but theyre pretty cheap each.

$1000 f**k bucks!!!! Nah mate when I said expensive I meant $275 for the rebuild kit + labour!

I'd just buy another T5 if I was looking at a grand for a rebuild!

Maybe synchro's but im tippin its the input shaft or shaft bearing! As it doesnt grind when I do a real slow change! And 4th is at a 1:1 ratio if im not mistaken? Which would explain why its the only gear to crunch!

Figured id just rebuild the box while its out and opened up anyway! Its done 150,000km but it came out of an AIT turbo EA so who knows what sort of thrashing its copped!

Certainly sounds like the 4th gear synchro - EA's run a brass ring, later T5 variants run the ring with friction material on the inside, you'll find both will fit.
I'd say you'll find the teeth on the existing ring have copped a hiding.

I've got an incomplete EA box (minus input shaft) which I picked up cheap - came in handy when I rebuilt the EBII box for my wagon, and again handy for the EA box I'm doing now.

Sing out if you need specific bits - I have used some, but I won't be using all of them.

Sweet thanks! Would you happen to know if an EF EL box will fit my EbII?
