well.. myth busters used an old tail shaft from a 70's car and angle grinded 70% of the way thru the uni joint and it wouldnt snap by jamming it in reverse at 35mph..
not sure if that helps you

yeah shouldn't have any problem reusing them. Personally I put loctite on them.

The old bolts can be used but must apply loctite, i think the torque is 70nm.

The rumour is that they are supposed to have a special coating on them. But like the guys said loctite is commonly used with the old bolts (not sure if this is officially safe or not). Just a word of warning though. My mates dad used loctite in his ef when re-using the bolts. I was giving my mate a hand a few months after dropping the tailshaft out to drop his gearbox, and f**k, those bolts were so tight. We had to actually jimmy the ratchet against the ground and use the ground against the movement of the ratchet to get them off. Not fun!

Like he said.. The real stuff stuff grades aren't meant to be undone. Use a grade that's meant to come off again. Wade though here and you'll find what's best http://www.loctite.com.au/int_henkel/lo ... /index.cfm |

safe to reuse the bolts as said, use loctite.
They're not 'torque to yield' bolts (like the head bolts).
