looking at replacing my springs with some lower ones at the same time as I do my shocks, but I need to figure out what I have now, I've checked the manual but can't seem to find the standard ride height for a V8 EF, and the numbers you are given on after market is "X"mm lower than standard, being Ex-Chaser, do I have stock or Sports and whats the standard height so I know what I'll end up with, I'm not after superlow, just lower than I have now.
currently I have from the centre of the wheel to the bottom of the gaurd wheel arch. Front - 345mm Rear - 370mm (or 365mm to the plastic molding)

As far as I know the cops suspension isn't any lower just a little stiffer.
Count your Ex Chaser as standard height for a EF V8. |

Just a fraction lower than standard. Bugger all really.
I just had my factory EF XR6 suspension upgraded and the stock height was barely noticeable difference than a GLi. I've now got superlow Lovells and Koni shocks. |

ef chaser suspension is the same ride height as Kings lows as I thought that I would change my chaser springs for lows only to find that the car sat exactly the same height afterwards

just remembered I had a mate around a while ago with a stock 6 GLi and it sat noticeably higher than mine, so I guess that blows the stock suspesion theory away, so given my heights above, any idea what I have, and what I need to get maybe 10-15mm lower.
I don't want to have anything rubbing though, and not interested in rolling gaurds. reason I'm asking here is I'm doing it myself, and don't want the hard sell from a shop.

I thought the V8s sit slightly lower than the 6s anyway which is why I said the Ex Chaser was the same as a stock V8.
I've got superlows and 17"s on my EF XR6 and she doesn't hit the guards. However the front does sit higher than the rear by 10-15mm. So I hope to get that sorted out in the next few weeks. |

superlows maybe the go then, whats the load carrying ability with them, cos it's still the family tripster for while yet as well.

Load carrying ability is well let me put it this way on my EL Fairmont Ghia V8 I had superlows on the rear and with three people in the back the stock tyres were 2" up inside the guard and she couldn't handle any road bumps at all.

The Chaser cars had Polyurethane suspension bushes, Factory fitted, I remember replacing them under warranty, because they cracked & broke out regularly. They had XR8 suspension.

that's what I thought, so what is their height and any idea what I should use to get 10-15mm lower, just want to close the gap to the tires a little, much like when I have the 2 girls in the back and the suitcases in the boot. another question, my manual mentions self leveling suspension that I have and shows a picture of the coil suspension, does this mean that these rear {DESCRIPTION} on ebay will be no good for me, the manual shows leaf springs in the picture above, so I assume that's what these are for.

The "Self leveling suspension" is in fairlanes and EA fairmont ghia's. They were nothing but trouble, and was cheaper to fit springs & shocks than to replace the shocks or other parts ( compressor & drier assembly). Just put slightly higher profile tyres on, they fill the gaps. I have B'stone Eagers 235/60R15 on my 88EA S that has EL XR6 springs & shocks on it. Fair enough its not on it guts, but I don't have to worry about speed bumps, gutters/drive ways, etc.
EA Spaks had the same suspension height as the fairmont ghia EA. The ride quality disappears when you put them on their guts, because they hit the bump-stops all the time. That ain't a ride. Its a bash.

If its still a family tripster i would leave as is. Have lows on mine and with a full boot and a couple of poeple in the back it sits pretty low.
