Hey Fordmodders,
Hope everyone is getting ready for a huge night My car shudders when I'm braking whilst going down a hill or steep gradient and I've been told the rotors need to be machined. Is this true? If so where would I be best to take the car to have them done? (anywhere in Western Sydney/Blue Mountains is cool) Also, approx. how much does it cost? Thanks Guys and Have an awesome night John. |

Yes, machining can repair some shuddering.
Sometimes a loose wheel bearing, worn tyres and or a bad wheel alignment will cause the vibrations, yet i blame brake first. It usually costs around $30ea rotor to get them machined, this requires you to remove and refit. Honestly I'd replace them, they're around $70 to buy news ones and braking isn't an item I like to skim. New rotors will mean new bearings (unless you use the old ones) and new pads. So your up for around $200 for the lot and its well worth it. $300 will get you slotted DBA rotors and they perform better. My vibrations were Very bad above 100kph, and when braking from that speed the steering wheel wobbled all over the place. New rotors = fixed.
