G'day,
Just wondering if anybody has any knowledge about running in a diff after a rebuild. I've been told 60kph for two days and then the next 500klms at no more than 80kph. Any thoughts??? Cheers |

Assuming the pinion and Crownwheel are a matched pair and setup correctly there is little need to run it in other than being gentle on it. If its LSD then a few circles (by that I dont mean donuts) one way then the other will get the friction surfaces seated.

as above, if its a LSD do several full lock very slow circles in each direction.. not only does it seat the friction surfaces, but it1ll get some odd looks from the people that happen to live in that particular culdersack

Cheers when I got my new diff installed, the place told me, don't going over 80km/h, no burnouts, no towing, no hard gear changes or high revving for 1000km's. But in saying that, it was impractical for me to stay below 80 on the freeway to work, and depressing driving like grandma so I cut it down to about 200km's. Up to 1000 so far and no problems at all.
