I've only had the EA Ghia for about 6 weeks now and I finally went down to Pedders to see what the bull is about.

There was the cracked seals on the ball joints and worn bush's left right and centre which I was expecting but I was not expecting the self leveling system to be leaking. There is a oil leak on the passenger side. I know nothin' about the selfleveling system but there is air involved, no?

I could ask a few questions but I'll open it up and only ask one more -

What should I do??

:D
I had a pedders system fitted to the rear of an NA11 . This entails replacing the rear springs and air shocks with standard units., ie stiffer springs and gas shocks. They pull the fuse to make the air compressor inoperable. With the new setup, iIfound that the rear rode too high and the ride quality was crap. I converted back to original arrangement ie bought two new air riser shocks but aftermarkect ones made by Munroe and an air line conversion kit.
( the latter allows connectivity between factory air lines which are thicker).

I retained the red coloured pedders springs. The original springs are very soft and probably contribute to earlier deteriation of the air shocks as they need to work harder.

So, with stiffer springs and back to softer shocks I ended up with a surperb comprimise. Great handlig, nice ride and adjustable height capability.

Now should your compressor die - whislt you can rebuild them - it might be cost prohibitive. Solution ? pull the fuse, re-route the airlines from the shocks to a T piece in the boot (that comes with the munroe kit), and hey presto you have self levelling suspension in the true sense - that is you connect an air hose to pump up the shocks when loads dictate so. There were after-maket compressors that you can control from the cabin to manually raise or lower height. Has any one come across these lately?

See the following site for info on removing SLS shocks:

Cheers ....... nick
