Happy days again. Have you got SLS woes - the thing that controls ride height is mounted to the rear suspension on higher end Fords ? read on: The Aussie made sensor that controls the ride height on Fords with Self Levelling Suspension (SLS) can malfunction - result: incorrect ride height -rapid on/off compressor function - dash warning light flickers, air not bleeding out thus ride height remains exceptionally high, dash warning light comes on and most likely the audible warning too, the function test does not alter anything (ie open door with ignition on - press door light switch in quickly 3 times to get compressor to raise and then lower suspension) etc. Why is this so? It seems in most cases the soldered joints inside the unit can become "dry" and hence poor connectivity results - and a range of malfunctions. Solution - take your trusty ford to a good auto electrician who will unclip and remove the wiring harness plug and then remove the sensor. Four screws are taken off and access is gained to the sensor internals. The dry joints are resoldered. Mine had two which were cactus. Took an hour to fix. Cheers ......... Nick |

the general consensus from the fairlane/LTD owners i know who have had SLS, is that even when it's working fine, it's performance is average at the best of times..... toss in a trailer or rough roads and it all goes to s**t.... best thing is to pull the fuse, remove the module and get some decent rear shocks

Yer, i took mine out coz the rear right shock went a few times, aparently kind of common due to the muffler/zorsts heat, dunno really.. All i know is they were VERY expensive to replace the shocks as the pair and wa much more cost effective to replace with a conventional type system. I honestly think with SLS they hendle pretty well for a stock boat sized car(loungroom lol) that was really cumfy in the back, just not around round abouts or very unsettled roads.

Nope, no SLS - FBT's run standard with a revised setud of the GT, same shocks however springs are different rate i think, slightly higher center of gravity. FBT with SLS would be dangerous to say the least, the back end likes to walk around with the sls more often and in wet under normal driving i loose traction on gear changes lol.. n no my tyres arent fooked, new!

More like bugger they werent! Altho for the 1st time last night i put the FBT in performance mode, it shifts bloody fast, only thing is every time you slightly depress the accelerator to just kreep up a little the car kicks into 1st/2nd lmfao! Good s**t if you wanna be fanging around too, also wheelspin into 2nd on dry road isnt impossible.. Npt bad for a stock lougroom style boat!

Nope, no sls at all.
SLS was a delete spec. for the FBT, every single other fairlane tho has SLS and some had the adjusted height as you stated.
