18 and a 1.2 for the EB
Not sure on the EL... Increase value for R1 (5.6) and decrease for R2 (18) to increase firmness. Might require some experimentation? Just change in small increments.

Yes. You wont damage anything. Worst case scenario - the box will go into limp home mode, in which case you just remove the shift kit and head back to the drawing board.

are there 10Watt 18 and 5.6 ohms still available? ive been to a few places and they only have 5Watt ... only place i havent tried is jaycar.. hopefully they will have some there.
if i can only get my hands on 5W resistors .. how should i hook them up? in series? 5W 18ohms + 5 W 18ohms = 10W 18ohms? never was good at electronics :S cheers

Has anyone had any concern with their diff running these kits ? I've had mine installed for a few months now but don't use it as often as i could as i've had a few concerns about my diff making clunking noises whilst using the kit. I'm using the 5.6 ohm + 18 ohm resistors. Anyone else noticed this or is my diff slowly on the way out?

ok i installed it today with 10Wat 5.6 and 18ohm resistors...
feels good when its on... nice kick (also chirped 2nd but thats all). just a question: when the switch is OFF (not using the shift kit) , it takes that lil bit longer to change gear (in Drive Mode).. i dont think it was doing this before, it feels like the power button is on (but its only on econ) is this normal?

Hi all,
Just an idea that some of you might like to take up ... I installed the shift kit (18 ohm + 5.6 ohm) on my EL today and it worked a treat. But I took things a little further as well... I found a kit at Jaycar called the "Quick Brake Light Kit" for $24.95. This kit is from Silicon Magazine, but is also featured on www.autospeed.com as the "Delta Throttle Timer" (exactly the same kit, but different name and application). What this kit does is sense how quickly you apply the throttle and if it is faster than the threshold value you've set, it then automatically drops the tranny out of "ECON" mode into normal (power as some call it) mode. It holds it in normal mode for as many seconds as you tell it to and then reengages ECON mode. It is possible, using an additional relay, to integrate these two kits. What this means is that on my car I drive along normally with the trans set to ECON and the gearshifts nice and slow, as per factory. When I sink my foot rapidly to the floor, though, the trans is automatically shifted into normal (power) mode for twelve seconds and the gearshifts likewise are fast and hard during this period of time. After the twelve seconds are up, by which time I figure I'm either out in front or lost in the dust, it all drops back to the ECON mode and factory shifts. No pressing of buttons necessary, at any time! I have added some flexibility by having a single switch that disables both the econ/power kit and the shift kit. This is for winter driving. And if I want some additional throttle response during winter, then I can always leave both kits turned off, but manually switch the ECON mode off. It works a treat!
