Hey, hey, hey EA Falcon i presume you drive a EA falcon, you have to have the same external auto transmission controller as i do chek my previous pic, which green wire did you cut a splice into for your shift kit? I have two green wires but im not sure which one.... Please can you tell me which one. :) There both solid green wires

imo, ive done this mod and it did work well, but i have since replaced an auto from overheating (due to driving too hard with a high stall fitted), but none the less, a transmission is a very fiddley piece of complex machinery, much more than just any engine. Any gain that is to be had from this mod is not worth the risk of needing to replace it prematurely.

Not to mention the fact that wires can come lose, it will more than likely need to be removed at some point, in the wet you can lose your traction and that is is not comfortable for yourself or passengers.

lol, not to mention that the transmission, like any part of a car, is balancing many things against each other. Like in a manual, you may be able to shift in .1 of a second but the syncro's are not designed to be shifted that fast, so you are actually not getting anywhere any faster at all..

Im no expert, but i do know a bit about a few things and this is (amongst the other 100 modification options) not an avenue worth considering unless you have a spare transmission that you don't mind having to throw in if you f**k your current one.

:)

WHY DOESN'T EVERYONE DO WHAT I DID?

Put it on a microswitch (or a timer relay like others suggest) so that it is ONLY ON when you NEED IT on.

I hate it slamming from NEUTRAL INTO REVERSE for instance.

Anyway - Mine is on a foot pedal so my left foot feels as tho it is doing something in an auto car. Simple - when wanting to go quick and get the thing shifting without wasting time and overheating I use it.

I have also noticed the car overheating less as a result of using it when pushing the old car hard.

HIGHLY recommend this shift kit mod. Although COMPULSORY to have it automatically turning itself off.

Also - I *tried* to loose it in the wet on a number of occasions and have always found it to be manageable. Maybe the 235/40/17's work well, or maybe it's the long wheel base of the stationwagon, but honestly - the resistors listed worked perfectly for my aging transmission. I don't get a chirp between any gears if driving in ECONOMY mode, but a little blip with economy off.

no probs sorry about that. i just wanted to make sure i had the correct pins. ill have another look as i went through the first 6 pages and it wasnt very clear to me.

i am having trouble with the 'mechanical forums' web site. i am just getting links to companies and cant seam to get to where they have any pdf. files or anything that looks like a forum. if i could get a hand with that that would probably solve my problem with the shift kit
cheers
matt.

Just had a look at the diagram for El's. It looks exactly the same, except pin 71 is actually pin 57, and pin 81 is pin 38. Other than that it should use the same resistors and the same setup.

located on the first page. pin 57 and 38

Hey i finally had a go at chucking this in my Car, i took a guess a cut one of the green wires i can feel a slight difference but not much im gonna put a 6.8k resistor in today.

As mine is an EB1 it has an external auto tranny controller and I worked out the one solid green wires goes to the solenoid and the other green wire goes to the Powere economy lamp, which is working when you flick the switch on and off so im guessin i got it rite

Went into town all enthused about fitting up the shift kit and neither d**k smith or jaycar have anything more than a 5W . . . Have to wait until Monday to be able to try another electronics shop. . .

i had the same issue. i had to go the 5.6k resistor over the 6.8 as no where had any.

tho for those interested, if all goes well with the T5 install on saturday my kit will be forsale.

T5 on saturday? Mate, you're gonna beat me to it. I am, however, winning the "longest ever install" comp hands down.

Mate, you don't need luck. Just follow wiring diagram and connect to the right pin out on the ECU. Simple really. The only complicated bit is finding somewhere nice and practical for the on / off switch. I still like my microswitch on a pedal at my left foot. You depress the pedal, it turns on - as soon as you release your foot, it turns off. Works well as far as I am concerned.

As for Huggiebear... Don't mind him. He's a little more like Pooh or Gentle Ben than the old Grizzly hard a*** he makes out.

Aye Hugmiester?!!.........
