id say it would be possible to do it, but im not sure on what wires they would go too. you will have to find a schematic for the ECU and see what wire is what

Fiend always knows how to get my attention.

As for the problem at hand....

I haven't done it before. And provide no warranty with the following info. So best find someone else to confirm if possible.

The 4 speed auto, in controlled from the ECU in the engine bay, the wires you'd be interested in are part of the 'C' (known as connector 302) plug (there's three connectors on the ECU).

Not as easy as for the E series where the ECU was in the passenger kick panel, easy to get to.

There's 5 wires to the transmission (that your interested in)
- Pink/Black
- Light Green
- Brown
- Grey
- Light Green

The VPS (variable pressure solenoid AKA S5) on the Brown wire is the one you're after. Problem is there's two brown wires on the C302 plug. You'd have to trace which one does to the transmission.

The above is a start (I haven't done a shift kit on a B series). But hopefully someone who's done it can provide specific help.

fiend - You can turn off the bat signal.

Thanks Data_mine your the best!!

if i was to splice into both of those brown wires, disconnect the battery and hook a AAbattery up to those said wires will that aid in finding the right one... like will i hear a noise?

I know.

I'll do you one better (I wouldn't recommend sticking power into any old wire).

The one highlighted in red, is the one you want.

I'm in NZ, but I use Telstra, and yeahp, they can be a little tardy. Still, the actual network they have in Wellington is superior to anything else. So I stick with them.

What was the topic here? Oh - shift kits. I just removed mine an hour or two ago 8-)
