Just skimmed over the entire thread but couldn't find anything on this. Is it possible to use a variable resister on an EA falcon so the firmness can be changed or is t only a ef+ thing? If its possible what value variable resister would be needed an where would it go?

Its all the same mate - just make it up as per usual and it'll work so long as you wire it to the TCM

hi, thinking about doing this in the weekend, just got a couple of questions...why do you have to use different resistor's from eb/ed to ef/el is it the ecu or the trans?
and has anyone found the perfectish one's for the eb2? (only read the 1st 12 pages) as the 22ohm and 1ohm didnt seem to do much for someone?

i just did this mod to my falcon, none of the electronics stores round here had 10w resistors, so purchased 2x 5w 18ohm and 2x 5w 5.6ohm resistors, and i just just put them in parrallel to get the 10w needed, just wondering would it make that much difference? i tryed it and it made a big difference from before i did the mod so im guessing it worked although, im not getting that much of a huge kick when i changes gears..

You dont have to use different values if you make an adjustable one. If you dont go adjustable the only change will be to the "firmness" resistor, the 18ohm 10 watt should stay the same on all models from the tcm in the ea's to the au's. Have a look in the thread I started in 6 cyl workshop for the variable shift kit diagrams. EF and EL have different pinouts for the ecu's, EB2-ED are the same and EA-EB1 are the same

Grippy wide tyres and a tired motor then you wont get a chirp. Interesting though becaue using the exact same resistors some people are saying they cant turn them over half wayor its just too brutal.

haha had my falcon for 4 days and already done this. found it ages ago then remembered it yesterday, so i picked up the stuff from jaycar on the way back from school. The hardest part of this whole thing is actually getting the ecu out and working out which wires to cut. but that still only took me 5 minutes. haven't tested it at full throttle but at 1/2 its seems harsh but a harshness you can live with. Definitely a fantastic mod for diyer's. I've got a eb2 by the way and am using the 18 ohm resistor.

You replied to my thread asking the exact same question, after I had posted the exact diagram for you, the exact pin numbers and even the jaycar part numbers.
