Ok, well you may be stuffed then. The only plan I had has just failed as the head guy on the other ford forums doesnt have it either. Maybe put a call out to anyone thats done it to a TCM. Or alternatively look for any green wires, if they can correspond to the pin (27?, cbf) then that should be it. Sorry I cant be of any more help. If there are any green wires that can correspond to that number by counting either way, post up a picture and I can tell you how to make sure by testing the resistance with a multimetre but again Im not sure about this and the car may have to be driving along to do that. Dont know. May be more harm then good. You can always do it the manual, always on way by dropping the pan off the trans and screwing the S5 in half a turn.

screwing the S5 solenoid in half a turn firms up shifts? i've heard of that but though it was a load

Strange. Try moving the wire from the ecu to the other outside pin then.

I guess so. Just build the whole thing. turn the switch on and hide it somewhere. Im over all this shift kits crap. How is this thread with f**k all good info still alive when mine has every f**k adjustable and LED diagram for every 6 cylinder and its like 20 pages ago now.

sorry dude didnt mean to sound p****d off, but i drove a 2hour round trip to buy the adjustable pot, seeing as my local jaycar stockist "forgot" to order what i asked

then when it didnt work......

Anyway, a quick rundown on what might work (once i order the resistor in)

This diagram is the one on the 1st page and is known to work.......
Image

This "always on" diagram with an adjustable pot didnt do anything (shifts normal)
Image

Now im wondering does this "always on" diagram look like it may work ????

reason why i did that last diagram is because the way the switch works

am i correct in saying when the switch is "up" that the middle & top wires are connected and bottom wire is cancelled out

and that when the switch is "down" the middle & bottom wires are connected and the top wire is cancelled out

???

It does between the 18 ohm resistor and the potentiometer you are creating what is called a voltage divider.

Also on the front page the diagram for the EL and EB are different which is interesting as the eb can run with an el ecu so should be exactley the same.

Anyway if anyone needs help with working this stuff out feel free to msg me I dont mind helping you out, Prb shouldnt as I sell these things but hey not everything is about money

i wired this up today using the V8 TCM diagram. It worked. Put a smile on my face the first time it shifted first to second under full noise. the tailshaft actually hit the floor LOL.

a mate has a NC 5L auto and wants to do the same mod. i look for the seperate TCM under the dash near the steering column and it wasn't there so i'm guessing you wire it to the ECU. Is it the same as a EF I6?

No, it is VERY different. All I can help with is the resistor values and I could be wrong about them but if he uses an on/off type I should be able to whip a diagram up. There will be a TCM somewhere. Either above the footrest or near where the smartlock module is to the left of the steering wheel.

fordmods-technical-documents-diy-f38/adjustable-led-shift-kits-i6-only-t91069.html

Ive now made a technical document. Thanks to WILDEB for clarifying that the V8 and I6 TCM's are numbered the same way as I thought they would be

Great work dude! Except you shouldn't be giving that engine a hard time! Now you need to go buy the diff bump stop to stop this issue occurring, as it's not good for the tailshaft. If it has a balance button attached it may knock it off, like what happened to my Ghia.

The part is still available brand new from ford, about $35 iirc, starts with a XA part number. Your floor above the diff center will have 2 punch marks where you need to drill & fit it with self tappers or you will already have holes & just screw the bump stop into place.

Nice to know the v8 tcm is the same as the i6. I thought the TCM should be bolted to the peddle box. Does the NC have ABS? If not, you might find the TCM above the accelerator peddle on the peddle box.

Cheers

ToranaGuy
