I have a CFI eb falcon. she has a 4speed which has a seperate transmission ECU in the centre underneath the dash. i was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to use a shift kit on this setup..
I have a shift kit, but when i went to install it the needed wires from the engine ECU were not there.? any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance

i wouldnt bother if i was you man them gear boxes are weak as s**t and blow up even by shifting the gears your self trust me my gear box is gone after 120xxx kms if i were u i would do a mpfi conversion i did one when i was 16 with my old man its well worth the time and money costed me about 300 gave me about 20 kw at the engine beter fuel economy and looked way beter under the hood

The shift kit's are awesome in those 4speeds, the auto's are actualy pretty strong aslong as you get them serviced regulary. My auto has done 205,000k's and has had the shiftkit in for 30,000k's and its still holding up strong, the diff is the one that gets all the stress now though, my diff is getting rebuilt this week and turned into LSD.
I'd put the shiftkit in if i was you, just someone needs to know how to wire it in your car.

u serious dude yeah if u get it serviced regularly change solenoids tighten bands and s**t i can see it lasting but people with no money like me wont get it serviced and it will blow the tranny

lol thats just stupid just get a minor service every 15,000k-20,000k cost about $125 then every second service get a full flush and the bands all adjusted, it's worth.

i just wanna manualise it any ways so many more advantages with having a manual im curruntly driving my car in limp mode slaps into 3rd and stays there untill i turn the car off and then on again hopefully it last untill couple of months so i can convert to manual other wise ill slap in the spar ef box and maybe do a diy shift kit
but with limp mode it acts like a shift kit when it goes into that mode from 1st them slammin into 3rd its so f**k quik gets a tiny chirp and a snapping noise it does not sound healthy at all

does anyone know where i can get the wiring instructions for the seperate module? ive had the shift kit for ages and ive been wanting to put it in but there is no instructions for the seperate ECU it seems impossible to find the info. i love the 4 speed in my car, serviced every 6months. just want faster shifts and the twin themos.

It's support@shiftkits.com.au , tell them you bought one of there shiftkits off a mate or somthing and he has lost the intructions on how to wire it in, that should work. They do EAII-BF so they would have the instructions.

They said because it isnt their product, they cannot supply install instructions. i am about to give up on this. noone has install instructions for the 4speed with the seperate trans ECU.

send another email from a different email account and say it is there product, any of these electric shiftkits are going to be wired in the same. Aslong as you get the instructions from them

Hey all, after 10hrs of research i have installed my shiftkit. =D lots o fun i tells ya. Here is how i did it.
This is for the shiftkits for a EA - EB series 1 or V8 with seperate TCM. On the Shift kits - Do it Yourself forum in Fordmods they show a diagram of how to make the circuit. Pin 71 on diagram = +12v = Pin 29 (TCM) (Yellow Wire) Pin 81 on diagram = S5 = Pin 7 (TCM) (Green Wire) I hope this helps everyone that has looked for this info.. Start car, flick switch, ENJOY =D Thanks everyone for the help. Much appriciated.

dude ur a legend lol i totally forgot about you posted something up like this and atm im building up my own shift kit but i had no idea what colours the wires were on the tcm you have saved me so much hastle
any ways have you put it in yet if so how does it go you chirping into 2nd

It does the job nicely, if you give it heaps of stick in "power" mode, it chirps into second and very occasionally third. Im glad that i could help. There are two green wires going to the tcm, 1 controls the "power" light on the dash, this one has only 1 other wire next to it (you dont need this one). and the other is the S5 solanoid. Let me know how you go after you install it. If you accidently use the wrong green wire, when you flick the shiftkit on it will dim the power light on the dash and send the car into "GAY mode". this wont hurt the trans at all. just when you get home, change to the other green wire.

in the diagram it looks like the pin 81 is cut and seperated so im guessing i do this to the green wire but like u said what happens if i do it to the wrong green wire?
also which plug are the pins on the big plug or the smaller plug
