hi can any one tell me if shift kits still work with a j3 chip

i dont have either but from what ive read ,they havent gone that deep with the j3 chip to shift patterns i mean.
a shift kit modifies the resistance going to the ecu so i dont reckon it would do any thing but what you adjusted it to .harder softer ect
i have seen heaps of signitures with both mods if that helps
anyone want to correct me??
