Yeah which i find quite amusing. It would be like me saying that if I drop the clutch all the time in my manual falcon it will last longer, which is true because the clutch wont be slipping and will wear less. What does it do for the rest of the gearbox though? Same story with the shift kits. The higher line pressure means that the bands and clutches activate faster which means less slip/heat, but you’re putting a jolt through the gearbox – basically creating a torque spike. So any part of the gearbox which is on its way out is going to get a helping hand.

haha, my gearbox is so stuffed anyway i dont need one of these
it used to chirp in the dry between 1st and 2nd. i then got ir serviced and S5 replaced. Still gives you a good jolt in the back but no chirps. its funny how you guys are trying to get this rough feel and all i want to do is to get rid of it!

I made my own shift kit and installed it last weekend... It works well... (Chirps the tyres from 1st to 2nd with my foot to the floor)..
Although... When I flick the shift kit switch to the off position, it still shifts firmer than normal for a while afterwards, like the line pressure hasn't completely died down or something... It will eventually go back to normal. I also noticed while the shift kit is turned on, sometimes I'll hear the sound of a slipping belt on gear changes.. (scary stuff).. I think I'll only use this for drags and what-not... My conclusion... these kits are over rated... |

As soon as i switch it off the shifts go back to normal. It has increased my shift points to the rev limiter. Getting 10km/hr faster out of each gear. Don't hear any funny noises. It actually shifts better with the kit on then before in power mode, especially driving around town(my opinion anyway). Nice quick shift(not even hard) and instantly your in the next gear, brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!
