I have a Steeda and a short stick from ebay + BA gearknob, it doesnt need to be moved very far to shift gears at all. I'd highly recommend a rip/quick shifter, but the length of the stick would be personal preference as it does require more effort to shift the shorter the stick. Combine that with the extra effort required due to the rip shifter and it could turn some people off.
Having said that, I love it . Straight gate 2 to 3 meaning you can pretty much just punch it up is sick, 3 to 4 is probably only 2 inches of travel. |

im running a monza short shifter in my au, picked it up from my local autobarn.
heaps better to drive then standard. some people have isues going from 2nd to 3rd with it accadentally going into 1st but never had a problem with it personally, the rip shifter eliminates this completely.

i've run a Steeda and now have a 'Billet' short shifter, both with cut down (30-40mm, f**k all) stock stick, and no rubber insulator on the stick.
they do increase shift effort, Steeda a bit less then the Billet, probably due to Billet being a sliiightly shorter shift and a stronger spring for the 2nd to 3rd shift. i like them both, would come down to whatever i could get a deal on if i was going to buy another one. Steeda probably nudges ahead if it's a daily and you are concerned about shift effort.

Steeda's also cheaper than Billet branded shifters too. RRP for a billet is $450 odd IIRC, steeda's 300 ish, or 200aud on ebay usa but you'd need to find someone to post here.

Rip/Quick shifter? That the brand? Doing a manual coversion soon. Want to do it all these bits at once. Cheers.

I got mine from the USA, to suit a T5 as found in the mustang. I got it for $125 approx including post.
Have a look on Ebay This looks like what I bought. EBAY LINK. It should be even cheaper now as the dollar is much better. Cheers BenJ

I've got this one http://www.mgwltd.com/mustang_1990-2004.shtml
I love it, even though my gearbox is fairly noisy the shifter doesn't make any vibration noises at all. This is something this shifter is praised about by every person that owns them. And of course the shift feel is great. With the Aussie dollar doing so well at the moment these are a great buy. You need to factor in about US$30 for postage iirc. |

Steeda I dunno about as I bought mine second hand, but I was going to do what BenJ said. Just need to find one willing to post to Aus. |

This is what I have just fitted.
Attachment: Hurst Billet/Plus SST shifter, p/n 3915071. Very happy with it, shifts great, not too hard, not noisy/harsh at all. More pics in my build thread.

Looks good.
Whats it worth? So the stick was a separate buy?
