How can anyone justify spending $500 on a shifter to attach to a $500 gearbox?

All the jap geabox can get shifters for less than $200.
Maybe we need to approach someone who can make these things and arrange a group buy or something.

All they need to do is lift the pivot point upwards and the throw is reduced - cant be too hard.

It seems that some people here are probably talking about Shortened shifters and short throw/short shifters as one and the same. Most short shift kits I've seen are around $400-500, but shortened shifters are much cheaper.

Most short shifters that you are talking about are created with an angle grinder. I can get a short throw shifter for $180 for my Nissan 200sx. THis is not just a cut down gear lever but are new mechanism that replaces the existing shifter. check out the xspeed website in WA.

Check out Mick Webb SVO - I purchased mine from him in the $350 mark and it is excellent.

I've been looking at just shortened shifters for a while. Not really confident in the old T5 liking the short shifters. Do you have any problem with yours mspw? Doesn't seem to have/be putting more stress on the box?

i bought mine from Mick Webb - Not really that hard to install, having ahoist makes it a piece of piss. Just need to lower the gear box a bit to get enough room to get in and undo the forward bolts. But 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 4th shifts are awesome!

How come the Ford ones are so expensive. I boutght one for my WRX for $160 and just bought another one for my 200sx for $180. $350 for one to fit a t5 - one of the most common gearboxes in the world - what the F#$k!

A friend got one done for his skyline and it cost him over 600. Where did you get yours from?
