I've been looking at a couple of options for a diff replacement. I want to beef up the lsd and recall reading in a few places that the r31/r32 skyline diff gears are interchangable with ours. If this is the case, then is the lsd interchangable too? Surely this would broaden our options for a solid lsd replacement as there'd be plenty of Japanese brands who do tough lsds for drifting and hardcore drag skylines and s**t, if this is the case?

r32 is different to r31
r31 skyline and pintara use the same BW diff as the falcons and commodores someone with some more knowledge will be able to confirm the exact number of splines etc for each model but from memory r31 pintara is 25, skyline 28. V8/Turbo commodores VL onwards are 28 spline and n/a 6cyl 25 spline. |

I blew the diff on my Bluebird TRX and was told there are 2 diffs. the 8 bolt and 10 bolt. the 8 bolt that I had was weak as piss but engineered so much better than my old HQ kingswood. The changeover dropped straight in no leaks or issues. The kingswood leaked at the hubs and I had a crap of a time trying to get it all sorted.

I'm not looking at replacing the whole diff (well, I might be) but as far as the Japanese aftermarket stuff goes, I'm just looking at the lsd centres. Those lokka diffs that everyone's been getting from some 4WD place, are they all the same units or are they specific models for the different cars? I'm not interested in them myself, however if they are all the same and they fit in ours, then there must be a certain model skyline that will have interchangable lsd centres as the e-series. The reason for this is that I recall reading a link to a skyline forum in relation to the lokka group buy. So, if I can work out which Skyline internals is fully compatible with mine (if any), it should open up a whole new range of products available. I've also been looking at a 9" conversion from VEEM. I don't know how good these are, so if anyone has any knowledge on them, please feel free to share.

if you do decide to get some Skyline gears, triple check them for any signs of weakness, most would have had a hard life and be absolutely f**k lol

the 4 pinion BW diffs are strong....
id just go with a nice tight rebuilt bw... if you want to look at aftermarket centres id give a diff joint a call as there might be local alternatives depends on what u want it for

the pintara diffs are a good mod aswell because the ratio is 4.11 or very close to that

4.11 is a bit too short for me. I'm after 3.7s or 3.9s, but the gears aren't the issue right now. It's the centre I'm after and I don't want to use OEM s**t, I want aftermarket but something that's stron and fits. I just want to open the options up a bit if it's at all possible...
I'm not going to bother rebuilding my diff cos for not too much more I'll be able to get something that will be able to handle a hell of a lot more power. I think the stock lsd would s**t itself before long with the setup I have now.

Got trick flow top end kit in. I have a mate with an EL XR6 who got his lsd rebuilt and after about 6 months it's single spinning again
