Hi guys, I'm sure our cars ( at least mine) comes up with a new noise when it feels like it...anyway, mine's started over the last few months with a new one - on a sharp l/h turn , I can hear a very light noise occasionally like the brake on that side is dragging ever so slightly - noticed about an hour ago on a road that had those 10 kp/h one way things every 100 metres - as you flick the car to the left it sounds just for a second like a slight brake squeal....pulled the drum off to make sure everything's OK (brakes were rebuilt by a shop about a year ago) - everything's tight etc. but I noticed inside the drum, say 5 mm in from where the shoes are supposed to be rubbing, on the same face that it bolts up to the hub, theres a shiny witness mark - on the edge of the shoe there were a few points where it was also shiny (on the metal edge that the shoe material is bonded to) - I relieved these a little with a grinder but the sound is still there (although its mostly gone) - I'm thinking its the slight sideways play in the axle thats allowing it to contact. I've noticed just then that if I touch the brake pedal while its making the noise it stops instantly. Am I being paranoid here ? Should I just not worry about it? Any suggestions?
