Hi guys!

I have an EL fairmont ghia and the discs are going to need replacing in the new month or so.

What do you recommend? I was thinking DBA slotted discs, or even RDA...

Any suggestions?

Thanks

yep, either one of the above..
RDA are a fair bit cheaper in some models but on ef/el i dont think theres more than 10-15bucks per rotor difference..
I will have dbas on the front and rdas on the back, they look so close you wont tell the difference..

You get better braking, also they are more vented, so you don't get the heating up affect.. (whats it called again?) where your brakes get unuseable... it helps if you thrash your car heaps. The Cross Drilled rotors, are meant to be a no go zone, as they crack when they heat up.

Most people are happy with slotted DBA

I've had two sets of dba slotted rotors on my xr6. don't use the bendix ultimate pads with your dba rotors or you will find that in about 30,000 kms your have to replace your rotors and pads. I'm now using bendix performax pads, not anywhere near as good brake pedal feel as the ultimates but there's s**t less brake dust on my rims, and hopefully they'll last longer.

cheers,

thanks! I'll go the DBA's since they are only $15 or so more. I also found out that my dad knows the owners!

The brakes on my car at the moment are the standard and they are no good. I have heard a few people complain about the discs on EF and EL falcons.

The pedal is really long and in the wet they need to be pumped a few times before I slow down.

Thanks

you might need a brake fluid flush if it's long and has no feel

Its all pretty simple really - i didnt do mine as i watched nick and helped as i was getting the hang of it, this time around ive opted to have it done by them only coz im getting EVERYTHING done and i dont have time to do it myself.
Hitek are also very reasonable on labour, doesnt hurt to ask them!
