I feel the acceleration on my el ghia is pretty sluggish. i mean foot down in power mode, id expect a bit of go, but no, just a gradual acceleration to 90 then drops into 2nd. (typical BTR 1st gear)
Also when entering the hwy, id usually be half to 3/4 throttle and the car slowly accelerates for a bit and out of nowhere the car starts accelerating faster. (this is in economy mode btw) It is as if the transmission was slipping and then randomly became fully engaged.

Are these things normal? or do i have a problem?
sorry if this is a n00b question.

first thing to check is the throttle cable, have someone hold their foot flat on the accelerator, and then check to see if the throttle body is opening all the way
it could be a lot of things, but start with the basics and work through it,
disconnect the battery for 30 min and try it and see if theres any difference (this will eliminate a long term sensor issue, ie 02 sensor out of spec)
blocked exhaust/cat
blocked fuel filter, low fuel pressure
etc
the list goes on

Thanks for that, might check out a few of those things tomorrow. But I think if there was a problem it would be somewhere in the transmission.
