...And it's going into the AU. Looking just at suspension and ride/handling. The car needs new rear shocks and I'm thinking about going a tiny bit lower.
Got quoted $330 for rear boges and rear lows, add an extra 150 or so for front lows and I've got a bit over 500 left. What should i invest in to improve handling? Brands and rough prices would be appreciated

Sway bars, 30mm front and 22mm Rear. Will make a huge difference over stock, that should just about clean up your remaining 500 as well

agreed swaybars, makes a big differance, or you could look at a set of dba slotted disc's, both have a big effect on the car
both prity easy to do yourself, or not much labour for a mechanic |

Are you going to replace your front shocks too??? Sway bars will make a big difference as well but best if you replace springs and shocks all round first then do sway bars. I have boge front and rear on my EL falcon sedan and there a good shock but found that the rear is not as firm as the front. Boge is a standard replacement shock but pretty good considering value but if your looking for abit more firmer ride and abit better handling probably consider other brands like pedders GSR & Koni.

This is good advice. We just got quoted $1030 by our local Pedders shop for lowered Sportryder springs and ComfortGas shocks front and rear on our much loved EL Ghia.

Also get the best tyres you can afford. Probably the easiest way to dramatically improve your cars handling.

I only just replaced the front shocks with monroes two months ago, seeing as I didn't have the cash to afford decent ones at the time and it needed them to pass rego.
Damn, I was read BOGE's were good all round. I don't know how firm new shocks in the rear are generally, as the current ones are dead and the old car was lowered on monroe standard shocks, making it all bouncy. Anyone got ballpark figures on GSR/Konis for the rear? What about KYB? A bloke once told me they were excellent. Would it be worth it just going with the BOGE's and chucking on new tyres/swaybars, or should all the money go into shocks?

Boges will be fine, good tyres and sway bars will more than make up for the shocks

What you're thinking about getting sounds good, I recently got shocks, springs and bars, I have BOGE's in the rear and I think they're a little soft, don't like how the rear behaves. Good tyres will also make a difference recently got some Pirelli Dragons on the rear and is now much much grippier in the wet! Got Hankook RS-2's on the front.

Airved,
Just so you know Boge rears are a little soft compared to the front so if your looking for a comfy firm ride id consider something else as BOGE IS A STANDARD REPLACEMENT SHOCK, i know as i have them in me EL and front feels nice but rear could be better. Pedders comfy shocks are 10-20% more firmer than factory and GSR is 30-40% firmer from what the pedders guy told me. Shop around and see what you can afford or just wait till you can, i highly recommend 2 haggle the price as much as you can and if u have a mate who is a mechanic get there trade number and get trade prices. Just like i did LOL i got front a rear boge shocks for my EL for just under $300.00

I've got a mate who has a trade number and buys through Repco, but I'm in talks with Wholesale Suspension, who theoretically, should be cheaper than Repco on suspension parts seeing as they're wholesale.
How much more expensive are GSR shocks?
