Hey guys i dont know much about Mini spools so i would like to ask a few questions
1. are they legal? 2. better then LSD? 3. how easy is it to fit to a EF diff? for thoes who are wondering, i was looking at a Borg Warner 28 Spline Mini spool for the EF diffs and was thinking it would be a good upgrade instead of going LSD? so would it be better or should i upgrade to LSD instead? to my understanding they work when i put the accelerator to the floor locking in the diff giving it no slipping? while the LSD is Limited in slipping. so as much info would be great! Thanks Jason |

Mini spools just lock the axles up,where as LSD allows the wheels to rotate at different speeds.

You need a diff shop to fit one. But then your car would be illegal. Mini spools are made for dirt/speedway cars. If you use them in a heavy car on tarmac, they will just twist the end off your axles. Get an LSD, you will be very pleased with it.

if the car is extremely high powered or gunna be used for skids often a spool is the way to go. Ford LSD's are s**t and always wear out if abused. but they are illegal

Get a TrueTrac centre instead. More expensive than a LSD or minispool, but are legal, and much stronger than a LSD. Also puts power down mid corner better than a locker (which will induce oversteer).

I'm not 100% sure, but the E series diffs got a 4 pinion centre, while the pov pack B series only got a 2 pinion centre. So I guess an E series centre would be stronger - whether that makes up for it being a 12+ year old centre I dunno.

e series diff ffit into a ba easily or would there be some mods needed?.. also would one of these 4 pinion el lsds be as strong or stronger than a 3.46 xr6 lsd? .. could be a cheap replacement for breakage.
