I've recently had a thread about my falcon which has an abs warning light on.
I've had the problem diagnosed by my local ford dealership which came up as the front left and right abs/speed sensors, however they were unable to source the parts.
I've tried some of the local wreckers in my area but have not come up with anything,same deal with the spare parts shops.
I've been told that they have to be exactly for an ed xr6(this is by a ford mechanic) as they are different throughout the specifications on the ed model line up,is this true?
Does anyone have any idea on where I could source these parts?
I don't mind if it has to come interstate.

Any help greatly appreciated.

afaik the abs sensors are the same from eb to ed, it dont matter if there from a futura,fairmont or xr6...

Well the ford mechanic I spoke to is really living up to his reputation of being a dumba**.
I thought it didn't sound quite right but thanks for the help mate.

Replace the front lower control arm and castor bushes asap

The problem is, the ABS system registers movement in the front control arms which as the hubs move towards the back of the car under braking, the ABS system releases the brakes on both front calipers, which puts the signal out of range/sequence with the tone wheels from the rear while the car is in motion. The early 90's electronics mistakes this front suspension movement as an ABS fault.

Jack the front suspension up and check your bushes first before forking out for sensors, I am 90% confident you dont need. Seen this on so many early ABS Falcons its not funny

i dont think so...
there not that sensitive..they only read road sped differences between the different wheel sensors..
but if you have odd size tyres you can get abs faults as one tyre will be rotating at a slightly different speed to the others...

So would you still put your money on the sensors being stuffed?

Could the rotors be wrong for the car, I believe the rotors on EF/EL are different in this area.

More info EB/ED have 61 slots on the tone wheel where EF/l have 49

the rotors bolted to the same part as the sensor, and the sensors just read the gaps in the tone wheel otherwise it would screw up every time the wheel adjusts back and forth a hair, or under change of angle, steep driveway, loaded for towing. I can't see how that makes sense?
either I'm misunderstanding his explanations or it makes no sense?

have you tried just cleaning the sensor yet as the most common thing is just a bit of mud getting caught on the sensor.
and yeah make sure you have the right tone wheels, I made that mistake.
abs disabled the brakes randomly, although only above about 70-80k. got some near new rotors here as a result.
