im picking one up soon, from an EL Ghia, and i have a EF.
i have found some info on this, but nothing too conclusive.
from what i understand, the splines are different- not too fussed about this.
my main concern is whether any EF's had speed sensitive racks?
iv come across some ecu pinouts, but cant really see any wires that are relevant.
i wanna know if i can get a EF2 Fairmont Ghia/DF/NF ECU and use that?

cheers

EF/NF/DF didn't have speed sensitive steering, it was EL/NL/DL.
Why do you want it....just something else to go wrong....and the hassle of fitting it to make it work.

You'd need to add the two wires for the solenoid control - one to IGN power, the other to the ECU.
As mentioned though, you'd have to fit an EL ECU - 60 pins in lieu of the 104 pin EF ECU.
This means too that you'd need to convert from the EF's EDIS (coilpack) to a coil/dizzy ignition.

I'm not sure in Galapago's J3 thread whether he's able to add SSPS control to a J3 chip, which you could plug into an EF ECU, negating a lot of the extra work covered above.

So there's a fair amount of work.

Having said that though, I'm intending to fit SSPS to an EF XR6 wagon - but I'm aware of what's involved. Also I'm converting an EF/EL rack to SSPS, servicing the solenoid, etc.

Curious to know myself as I have an SSPS rack here and standard rack in my Fairmont.

From what I was told, but my memory is shot, you can just put the solenoid of the SSPS on a standard rack. High pressure hose needs to be replaced to clear the solenoid at the rack and the plug at the engine bay to ECU.

Someone correct me if I am wrong!
