although i have heard that if you use a speedo drive sensor from a xd/xf with the 23 teeth 3.23 gear this will bring the speedo pretty close to being correct due to the x series sender having a slower signal.. |

If you give Ford dealers the information about your car, ie tyre size, diff ratio etc, they have gears to suit.

Not with 3.9's. {USERNAME} wrote: nope. you will need a jaycar speedo correcter or similar.. although i have heard that if you use a speedo drive sensor from a xd/xf with the 23 teeth 3.23 gear this will bring the speedo pretty close to being correct due to the x series sender having a slower signal.. You need to use the XD Speedo transducer but I cannot recall what gear is needed.

XD transducer, Green gear( not sure of the teeth). This will make speedo accurate. then you need a speedo corrector form Jaycor or Shift kits so the auto plays nice. If you dont it will hold gears for way to long as it looks for road speed, not engine RPM. This applies only if using an Auto.

So the correct answer here is dont change the speedo gear. Leave it as-is, and your Engine/Gearbox will live to see another day. Your ECU will also do the right things.
You need to get a speedo corrector though to correct *only* the Speedo Cluster, trip meter (ifyou have it) and cruise control. Best NOT to correct the input to the ECU as its used for all kinds of things - like overrun injector control, Lean Burn cruise etc, and also Auto Trans Shift control Nigel |
