i was just reading the post on changing the speedo sender gear, and was wondering if anyone can tell me where this part is located?

i have an ef gli, with 3.45 lsd, and 235 40 18 wheels. according to the calculater supplied, when my speedo reads 87, i'm actually doing 100!

speed fines will follow unless i get this sorted out, so i wanna get it sorted.

i wanna have a look at what colour gear is in there already, but don't know where to look.

any help is appreciated.

ta

scott

Speedo gear sender is (obviously) on the gearbox. Need an 8mm spanner to pull it out but it would be easier to get to if you lower the tranny mount on a jack.

if it was obvious, i wouldnt be asking. i wondered if it was behind the gauge cluster somewhere. but thanks for the reply.

with the taller diff ratio, i guess it would be reading faster than i am actualy doing, and the calulater supplied supports that. but when i put in the wheel and tyre size, it tells me the new speedo reading would be 87 (the old :100, which i would assume means i'm actualy doing....100 at the new reading of 87???? ).

wot i dont know if is the sender has been changed by the previous owner (the diff was done when i bought the car).
