Hey guys, just had to put an auto back in my car after the T5 died. I have left the spigot bearing in the crank shaft and bolted the auto back up. It seems to bolt up ok. Am I going to have any issues leaving it in?
Also this box came out of an EB, where is the dipstick supposed to bolt up to? Second highest bellhouse bolt on the drivers side? It sits at that height but the angle of the bracket the bolt goes through is on a weird angle. Finally, any tips on getting trans cooler lines back in the car with the engine in...PITA!!!! All help much appreciated. Cheers |

Cheers The spigot bearing is suppose to be removed when fitting and auto tranny, as the spigot on the convertor locates in the crank, and is way bigger than the manual spigot. As for the tranny cooler lines......good luck !

The thing that sticks out the front of the torque converter is going to press on it, I did the same thing. I ran for almost a year with it and didn't notice anything unusual, but when doing a manual conversion, I was having extreme difficulty taking the torque converter bolts off, as the whole flex plate was being bent into a dish like shape against the torque converter, putting huge pressure on the bolts.

The spigot bearing looked like this after getting it off. The proper Ford spigot bearing is like that one ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^....they are a needle roller with a special outer. Here's a pic of one.....you'll see what I mean.

So....with a Genuine Ford spigot bearing in place, the spigot of the torque convertor could never go in.

Thanks guys, off she comes then. I managed to get the cooler pipes in by going straight under the front bumper, past engine mount and into the box.
