Hi All thanks for reading.
I have a problem with my xh II ute, It doesn't like going into gears. when it is in neutral there is no noise, but when i depress the clutch there is a bearing noise a loud one at that. If I put foot on the clutch lightly there is no noise. Also with the clutch in and trying to select a gear the ute wants to move depending on what gear which way. The gear box has also got oil and clutch has be adjusted and has made no effect at all. So what is the problem Spigot bearing dead or something more?? Cheers Masier |

Sounds like the throw out bearing rather than the spigot.

Yeah the throw out bearing will sound exactly like what u have described.
The spigot bearing would be similar but nowhere near as loud as the throwout. The spigot is pressed into the centre of the flywheel to accept the end of the drive spline and the throw out is held in the clutch arm and presses against the clutch spring tines (small fingerlike spring levers that point towards the drive spline) Most cases this would be the throw out but in either case it wouldnt hinder shifting unless the cradle the throwout bearing sits in has bent out of shape, if the spigot is flogged out then it would cause the clutch plate to wander from centre balance when clutch is depressed as lateral pressure applied on the drivespline by the gear clusters forces it away from centre. Anyway, let us know how it all goes |
