Do car springs deteroate over time, like start to drop loose tesion so forth.

i do believe they start to sag after a while, especially if theyve had a hard life.

mums ED is like that, its standard height at the back but looks like its on king lows at the front :lol:

The springs can lose height, depending on model and usage. But the rate remains the same.

s**t. my Pedders in the XF started to sag

My guess is the pedders springs are using the same BHP steel as the original springs, with a similar treatment process. H/D springs will however have a lesser tendency to sag, given the same usage as standard coils. Given the Pedders are likely H/D, they are thus likely to sag less, but not guaranteed to not sag.

Some jap cars and possibly others and some aftermarket spring manufacturers use a higher grade of steel. They can thus use thinner wire with less turns for the same rate if they want to, which reduces overall weight. But this stresses them more, which means they may not be any more resistant to sag than ordinary coils.

i remember reading somewhere that at 100,000 they should be changed but hey i could be wrong

I've never heard that, but there's always ideas out there one never hears of. It really comes down to model and usage. Most cars never really need the coils changed. Only if the car becomes too low from sagging.
