The car - 1991 Fairmont Ghia. The situation - new rotors, new bushes up front and complete hand brake system replaced. The timeline - Squeak started coming from rear right hand wheel before Christmas, after spending big cash had just about everything under car either replaced or adjusted, squeak still persisted and even got worse. A few weeks later a quick spray of WD40 on and around rear wheel - squeak disappeared. Last Saturday after hail storm squeak returned and up to today I have not been able to get rid of it and has gotten worse. Squeak disappeared on Friday of last week and has now returned to plague me.

I need answers, gentlemen and a fix to rid me once and forever of a squeak that not even turning the radio gets rid of.

is it thter all the time or only when you are going at a slow speed.

my car had a sqeek at slow speed but never really worried about it. then i one day it just went away. it would have been there for aout two years or so. i think some noises come and go from cars and it just depends on age.

This one might sound extremely stupid, but I've still got the bog standard wheels on my EL... I too noticed a "squeak, squeak, squeak" from the front driver side wheel. I since found out by accident that it was actually a hub cap causing it! Remove the hub caps and the wheels are quiet, replace the hubcaps and it's noisy again. Gets worse when it's warm too. Only comes from one hub cap.

I will give this one a try. I have the hubcaps that are plastic with the big fake nut in the middle with the Ford logo on it. If this works I will post a note here .... thanks :)

I've got one as well, the sqeek i mean. It comes from the front drivers side only at low speeds, becomes worse when i turn the wheels to the right. there is also a faint squeek when i turn the wheels to the left and when driving in a straight line at low speeds. What could it be.

This is the resurection of a problem squeak from February to see if there are any further ideas on what this squeak is coming from. Shortly after I posted this problem I took the weekend and removed both front and rear right hand wheels and completely cleaned the wheels and all the workings, ie rubber parts, springs, etc. I used compressed air to clean all dirt and dust from unreachable areas and warm water with soap ie car wash to clean everthing else.
When complete I put a thin layer of WD40 on all moveable parts and reattached the wheels. The squeak disappeared !! :D
I had the car professional washed on Saturday and low and behold that "bloody" squeak has come back again after an absence of two months. So what the hell is it. I have had everything replaced and cleaned and it still comes back to haunt me.
C'mon guys what can it be, where is it coming from. :x

i know this is an old post but did anyone find out the cause of this problem?

Iv got a Au forte v8, just put new pads and slotted rotors on all round and im getting and annoying squeak from my left hand side front or back, cant tell, i first thought it was pully stuffed but it wasnt.

squeak goes with speed from car and if passenger window is down and near a wall etc can hear it loud and clear. the hand brake was adjust when installed, how do i let it off abit on the au?

i cant really tell if it stops while breaking. but seems to disappear.

Squeak does not respond to bumps just car travel speed and not engine revs.

I had dry sway bar "D"'s in my EF - removed them, cleaned them, used superpro grease on them (the stuff for superpro bushes) and no more noise. Was the last thing Id though of....
