Hi All,

Over the past couple of weeks, I have noticed my steering changing a bit - in particular, I think I can best describe it as SSPS playing up whereby it is easy to turn the wheel all the time...even when driving at 100 km/h on the freeway, it is still easy to turn - what worries me is that it does not firm up at all ( like Speed Sensitive Power Steering is meant to when increasing speed).

Obviously the extra heat from the exhaust side of things is to blame...I'm looking for heat shielding ideas at the moment - so far melty parts consist of brake booster, master cylinder, brake lines and therefore fluid, power steering fluid and a cruise control pressure switch. So I am thinking I can add SSPS module to that list too .

Anyway, if anyone has had problems with SSPS, I'd love to hear such experiences ! I've got an EL Fairmont Ghia FYI.

Thanks All !
Steve

Frank - yeah I know my options...just unsure what to use...thermal wrap is fugly, but hey - functionality first, cosmetics second right :!:

Timbo - Stay down below with the rowers mate...low spec shouldn't mix with high spec --> "Don't let your ego write cheques that your body can't cash"

EL Ghias got all the good stuff that the fairlanes had other than SLS and the fancy cluster with the door sensors / warning lamps :)

doesn't the wrap keep to much heat in, causing the metal to weaken and corrode quicker. or is this negligable.
