hey all
just seeking a basic theory of a stall convertor - i 1/2 know what they do, but not 110% - so please, explain away! cheers

You mean torque converter?
Think turbines and stators instead of air its running auto fluid. Engine drive one turbine forcing fluid through stator and through the other turbine which drives gearbox. I could get more complicated but you are an accountant. High stall torque converters allow the stall speed to be higher so you can get more power for launching. |

basically its the clutch in an auto transmission, uses fluids to engage/disengage motor>transmission.
