i am puting a wade cam in my EF fairmont soon and seeing it is an auto and i am only going to be runing 3.45 diff gears i am going to need a 3000rpm stall converter to get the most out of it off the line. i have heard that standerd computers can s**t themselfs and do all kinds of weird things cause it thinks the auto is sliping is this true

Yep, mine does! I believe I've got a 3000 stall to suit a turbo application, however as the car is NA it stalls up to about 2700 ish. At times it will go into limp home mode. I just turn the car off, restart and all is good. I have heard something about if you put it in 1st (rather than leaving it in drive) and then stall it up, it will not go into LHM, but I haven't actually tried this myself. |

In this case, the converter was designed to suit a turbo, therefore to get to the 3000 stall speed it requires the turbo power. The car is NA so doesn't quite get there. If however you specify a 3000 converter for an NA car to suit your mods, then yes it will stall to 3000. 2&3) Only happened a few times in total, and only when deliberately stalling it up. If you tramp it, it does not go into LHM. 4) rest of the time, the converter is awesome. It's tight enough to still cruise nicely and not be a pain. |
