I have a converter thats in excess of 3500rpm in my AU. Lock up works fine but without an EDIT it would never get out of LHM.

This is an interesting subject- one I know nothing about. There is a diff type explaination thread, but what does a stall converter do, and how does it do it?

Please forgive my ignorance :)

Think of a stally like this.....

you have a manual and you can lauch it at higher rpms.....and will obviously launch harder. i think thats as simple as i can put it.

In my case i have a 2500 stall so therefor i can put my left foot on the brake and my right on the go pedal and stall to to 2500 rpm before the rears try to spin up, where with a stock converter in a AU you can only stall to around 2000 rpm before it wants to spin....
