ey yall
since lowering the car the steering has developed a wierd sort of pulling feel when going around sharp corners.
the best way to describe it is its like a non-power steering car when going around sharp corners.

if you want another explanation ask as i cant think at the moment

does it happen when your braking or all the time...?

if it happens all the time, its probably either the suspension or the wheel alignment (or perhaps u have a really fat passenger?) might be worth checking your tires are equally inflated as well

if it only happens when your braking around corners, i'd be checking the brakes work evenly by braking in a straight line at a low speed and not holding the wheel, to see if it pulls

hopefully someone else can offer you some more insight than i can, hope this helps anyway

thanks for the reply mate ,but nothing above relates i went to pedders this arvo and they adjusted the toe rate as it was a bit out with the springs setting in but it didnt help im thinking its the balls joints but i had them replaced 4 months ago.

its really quite bad on this one corner were its basically like a steep downhill hairpin and i really need to put alot of effort into turning the wheel straight.like i said its like driving a non-power steering car.
cheers

Lowering a car changes the camber and toe, you may need a camber kit then have all the alignment re done.

If it had the camber kit installed the alignment should have been done at the same time for the correct camber.

Have you checked bushes? Easiest way to check is get the front wheel (whichever one feels like its pulling) off the ground, grab it at about 10 and 2 o'clock and see if you can move it left and right....if it moves a fair bit or feels loose then it may be your inner control arm bushes

well i think ill have to accept the fact that the steering is going to like this as i spoke to pedders and there aint nothing they can do .
must be a common con with lowered suspension...oh well

I would be checking the rack ends, mine had the same feel but the tie rods(ball joints) were fine. its gives you toe out when driving and toe in under brakes. basically when turning the inner wheel pulls in more.

i had that problem, around all corners, the problem was my power steering pump, got it replaced and it was all good, just need to get the rack fixed soon. but anyway i had exactly the same prob and it was my p/s pump.

Sounds like negative camber!
You've probably gotten use to driving around with s**t all, and now you've got some.
When you get an alignment, ask them what camber you're running.
The Sprint is running -1.3, and it's alot physically harder to turn then the fairmont, which is probably only running -.7.
Don't worry, it's a good thing once you get used to it. You should have s**t more front end grip, and you'll have a bit keener turn in too.

No Camber Kit. Stock suspension :D
-1.3 is f**k all in the scheme of things.
The fairmont scrubs the outer edge something shocking, so when I lower it I won't bother with a camber kit.
Hopefully it'll spread it out to at least -1.
If you enjoy some spirited driving, a bit of a negative camber is great, but if you're putting around the city like a grandma, then it ain't so great...

Sounds more like a change in caster that camber to me. When you lower a car, you get more positive caster. This makes steering harder.

It also effects camber changes and toe-in/out when you go round corners. So, if you're getting more negative camber round corners, and if the wheels are tending to toe-in round corners, it might be because of more positive caster.
