I have a ea fairmont 6 cylinder and the front left wheel has a bit of a knock, i have narrowed it down to the steering rack on the left hand side where the rod goes into the rack there is play, does anyone know if this is a fixable or common problem, or should i just replace my rack?, and most importantly does anyone know what it is?
cheers

I can't remember what the steering set up is like on the EA-ED's but I am thinking you might need a new outer tie rod end.

I recently had this prolem on my EL. It was the inner tie rod end, inside the rubber boot on the steering rack. It is replaceable, the whole rod that is. It cost me a $100 to have it replaced. Don't forget to have a wheel alignment done after.
