Hey Guys

Im suspecting a problem with my steering rack as i have pretty much replaced everything in the suspension and still i i can feel the steering whell shake as im driving and this multiplys when i brake (rotors arent that old). i found this on ebay could this help??

Cheers

what brand and style rotors are they? standard dba's are rubbish, 9 out of 10 pairs fitted at work come back within a fortnight with vibrations, and pedal pulses. which means we have to remove the things and machine them to make them true again, easier than sending them back on warrenty knowing full well the replacements will have the same problem.

due to this i put silverlines on my ea in early january and are still perfect.

it's not always about the price or brand name for quality, it's what and who you know.

Where do you get the silverlines from?

Ok if you can hear and feel a clunk in the steering column by jerking the wheel back and forth with engine running, if the sound is coming from the lower part of the column close to fire wall it will more than likely be the bearing on the fire wall. Its not a hard job but the entire column has to be removed and detatched from the steering shaft in the engine bay. Will take around 2 hrs to do. Before replacing the bearing ensure the play isnt in the UJ's in the steerings shaft connecting the column to the rack, ensure the bolts on that shaft are tight and make sure the rack bolts are tight. The bearing from memorey was around $60-$80.
There is no point replacing the entire rack if only the rack ends are worn as the difference in price is around $200.

Holding the steering wheel, the play is in the vertical plane.
