has ne1 had a problem with the steering rod the 1 that has 2 universals on each end that comes from the firewall? the car is a el v8. it seems to have a knock only when it gets hot. can i repair it or is a new 1 the go?

Its called the Intermediate shaft, you can replace it, wouldnt bother to fix it, go and see a wrecker.

I have one here but its from an EL I6 with no wear in the UJ's, not sure if its the same but ford could tell you. I know brand new they are around $350 so if your after it make me an offer.
