As I said... I have just noticed today after taking my car for a run to clear the cobwebs and had to slow down when I noticed a suspicious car on the horizon. While I had my foot on the brake my steering wheel shuddered continously left to right in my hands. I tested it again afterwards at a lower speed and it still done the same. It never happened before and no ABS lights came on. I am thinking a wrapped rotor or is it something else.
Any help would be nice |

normally warped rotors, caused by either water splashed on them when hot or heavy braking at high speeds. if they arent under size have them machined.

Whats a good price to have your discs machined?

I pay $20/pair to a brake shop I use. After I have removed and cleaned them.

I've read heaps in the archive about this topic, and most suggested
the warped rotor theory, or going down the track of replacing the rotors with DBA slotted types. I've decided to run the existing rotors for a while and go the DBA's when the dosh is available, but in no hurry. I've had the same problem on my EB, but a recent wheel alignment has greatly improved the condition.....hasn't really happened since and I drive about 90km round trip for work on country sealed roads. After reading about tyre pressures here in FordMods, Ive also upped the fronts to 36, and rears to 34 (unladen), on 225/60/15's. The car is feeling heaps better, crisper and more direct through sweeping corners at speed. Just want to say thanks to all for your comments. |

Get a mech to fit em but
I got mine done by a mate n they were f**k. They either were warped from factory, or not tightened properly causing them to shudder. either way i had no warrenty and now a rooted set of slotted DBA's. Will eventually get em machined ... Mite be worth asking the sponsors of this site about there rotors aswlll

my eb was doing the same thing with the wheel shuddering. but i discovered that the staeering coloum was loose. one bolt near the firewall underneath the brake booster was ready to fall out. may have been in a but of trouble if it came loose.

Well I will be looking in at just getting mine machined for now if they aren't warped. But give it a year and will upgrade to a complete set of slotted all round. But if fronts are phucked then will replace straight away.
Going to have to raid the tip jar at work to pay for it all me thinks. |

That statement sounds stupid but the problem is that common that DBA have a how-to on their site and supply installation instruction for Ford rotors. The problem is that the hub seal makes the rotor feel like it is sitting correctly when you push them on by hand. |

one thing to check is do the rotors have heat spots ?
if they do then you will need to replace them as machining them won't help
