it's a strange thing but i guess it seems smart. holds gears for cornering so it doesn't change up a gear and bog down

Good news on this problem.....

The wheel is back and everything is back to normal!!

It's a shame that there isn't a way of over riding these 'safety nets' when necessary, but there you go.
