hey all, i have been chatting to a few people and was wondering if it is legal to make your own strut brace? as there isnt many places out there who make them for falcons and whiteline have a serious issue with NEVER replying to emails (more then 10 emails and never had a reply)

so i was thinking of buying some alloy and welding myself up one.

striker said that there only really good for use on the track and not on the road. has anyone had experiences with these?

There was a document done on this very subject by Ashvolvo, earlier in the year. The upshot is that the strut brace is not needed on Falcons,as the suspension does not interact with the towers directly.Anyhow check the discussion out in the tech docs.

Whiteline do an upper control arm bracing kit for EF-EL.
I don't know if this can be adapted to EA-ED, it mounts to the K-Frame somehow AFAIK (engine mount?).
Haven't seen them in the flesh however (if anyones got them, I'd love to see pics).

There were also arguments to rebut this. Worth a read.

As I keep pointing out, road rules and regulations on cars are state dependant, so things could be different in your state! Here in Tassie there's no issue with making your own strut brace.
If your after one for an EA-ED Nolathane make a really nice unit, I actually bought it just to double check that it wouldn't fit the EF/EL, was gunna see if I could get it to fit, but looking at just making up my own now, eventually, someday - well it's on the list of things to do at least...

I got the big whiteline front swaybar, and I got there rear swaybar kit (as the wagons don't have rear swaybar from facytory - the kits a peice of s**t as the brackets are no good, fuel and brake lines are in teh way, so a mates dad is gunna make me new ones over christmass - will chat to him bought the front strut brace aswell, I dunno if there's enough clearance over the BBM, LPG converter and air intake piping in my EF, actually I seriously doubt there is!!!). I've got the Nolathane camber kit installed. And King Spring Lows (including replacement rear leaf springs) and Monroe Sensatracs sitting at work waiting for me to find the money - I'm still thinking about fitting Super Lows at the front, but I don't know about clerance, as being a LWB already have issues.

XR 27mm.
30 is pretty much the biggest available, though I've heard talk of a 32.
Whiteline do a 30mm front and 24mm rear, thats what is going in mine.
Have fun dealing with them
I recommend NOT ordering direct from them.
It's cheaper through someone else, and then they have the headaches of chasing up your order as well!

yeah exactly right, im sick of companies not relying to emails when you spend the time filling out the form on their websites.

i emailed cebco brakes the other day and got a reply extremely quickly and was really helpful
