I'm planning to do a auto to manual swap on the ED and rather than use the T5 I'm going to use a R154 supra box out of the mid 90s supra turbos.

Has anyone done this conversion or know of a something regarding it online somewhere?

There was another topic floating around and it said that the supra box can handle alot of kw but not a great deal of torque. dont take my word for it though.

Did you do anything to the BTR CHEF?
Or just a shiftkit and cooler?
Have you thought about going kevlar bands, ala XR6T?

Im on to BTR number 3 now... the first was standard, the second was built to handle 300wkws and died in 3 weeks ( got a partial refund and returned the busted box ), now I have a clunky wreckers box with a new oil pump, seals, 3 oil coolers and elec shift kit... it wasnt too good when it went in and holds gears abit long, but isnt slipping and changes hard.
It should last a few more weeks. :D :D :D :D

Is the R154 Supra box the stronger one? I know there are a few variants. Mine is the W58 and was around 900 plus bellhousing etc.

I think mine is only barely holding up the power that I have at the moment.

cheers,
matt

At least there are a fair few in the know when it comes to converting this gearbox to the Falc.

R154 box is the Supra turbo one....6spd one out of the 93-97 Supra's I think......very strong. Guys are running 10's with them in the states....dont know how long they'd last with that, but should last well with a street car.

Does anyone know an approx cost for the conversion to the supra box?. Just wondering how cost would compare to a tremec?.

Just wish there was a cheaper option than tremec or z spec t5 that would do the same job.

cheers.
